Nashville Psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Sharpe is not only a friend of mine but one whom I respect for running a psychiatry practice the right way. As someone who's been in for psychotherapy, counseling, cognitive therapy, and medication management, I can tell you there's a BIG difference between the more money-centric versus patient-centric clinics. Dr. Sharpe is very patient and never short changes patients on appointment durations. He's big on customizing treatment plans based on your needs, not pushing what insurance or drug companies want, and not herding as many patients as possible through his practice each day.
I can remember one psychiatrist I visited treating me almost like a child or just a nameless, faceless number just to get me in and out with a prescription to his best selling medicine. The prescription resulted in panic attacks but this didn't seem to bother him one bit!
In summary, Dr. Sharpe is compassionate and just as much a friend as a doctor. If you're seeking quality psychiatry in Nashville I highly recommend Dr. Sharpe. He offers psychotherapy, medication management, and treatment for a variety of different psychiatric conditions.

Diversity of Acupuncture Therapy
I'll have to admit, fighting my weight and smoking have always been struggles of mine. The challenge with what I'm about to propose is that I loathe needles...I mean despise to the point I'd rather die of some serious illness than get a check up. How immature and wimpy is that!!!
From what I'm told by not one but two professional acupuncturists in Nashville, the needles are painless and almost undetectable. Apparently the affects help block sensors in some neurological and mental way to prevent over eating and help fight off the smoking cravings. It's said Acupuncture helps with depression as well. Wouldn't you know it, insurance typically won't cover such a promising and effective remedy. Shocker right? But you're welcome to all the pills and bozo therapy sessions you need...Lol.
A psychiatrist friend of mine discussed the role of therapy in suppressing the urge to smoke, overeat, or depress. Acupuncture is a Chinese discipline whereas I'd assume psychiatry took off in the USA. Still it's interesting that these three habits can be treated at once.
Those that use acupuncture therapy don't seem to mind paying out of pocket. I suppose it's worth a try and may serve as a segway for me to try handling some of those "real" needles used for shots and blood tests.

Celebrate Bariatric Vitamins
Years ago I worked with Nick, the partner of brother (and founder) Vic, while working in medical sales. Nick always impressed me with his vast knowledge of nutrition and his passion for wellness and staying fit. Recently, we received a question via email through our website about how Steiner Werks began, so here goes:
When Paul and Mary Ellen Steiner moved from the Chicago metropolitan area to Mount Juliet TN (just outside of Nashville) in early 2002, Mary Ellen went to work as the Office Manager for her sister's OB/GYN practice. Dr. Sue Ann McGuire had built a successful and highly respected practice, and she wanted to give her OB patients a special gift to commemorate the birth(s), so she began to investigate various types of items that would fill this need. She found porcelain personalized baby shoes as baby gifts in a catalog, but the cost and time it would take to obtain the gift made this a prohibitive choice. Still, Dr. McGuire liked the idea for the baby shoe, and somewhere across the vast reaches of the Internet, ceramic Bisque baby shoes were found that could be personalized with information specific to a given baby. She discussed this concept with Mary Ellen who took on the project full scale. Mary Ellen researched a number of suppliers before settling on one particular vendor based in southern Arizona, and she has been receiving shipments from this gentleman ever since.
Shortly after Dr. McGuire's practice began to give these personalized baby gifts out to the new Mothers, the concept gained in popularity to the point where the new Mothers were asking for additional shoes, either for the baby's older siblings or for friends of the new Mothers who had given birth through a different OB office. The personalized baby shoes caught on so well that Steiner Werks was formed as a logical extension of what was already a viable business model. Paul began working “behind the scenes” by handling all marketing efforts in the creation and promotion of Steiner Werks, including design and content for promotional flyers, website development, blogging, and social media.
Over time, Mary Ellen has continued to refine the finished product. She has researched and incorporated different types of paint, lacquer, ribbon, decals and designs which are used to make the personalized baby shoes offered through Steiner Werks. She has also experimented with different spin-offs of these shoes and, as a direct result, we are now offering them as Holiday ornaments suitable for hanging from Christmas or Hanukkah trees. Garage Door Service I Recommend
Back in 2008 I finally took the plunge and bought a home with a garage. It's served me well over the years but I've been a bit snake-bitten in terms of cracks in the slab but mostly with the garage door. My driveway is not level which made framing the garage tough and ultimately fouled up the installation of the rails and spring. That being said, the door would get stuck when I pulled it up. After spending several hours trying to fix it with a friend (who I paid) I finally realized it was time to call a pro. The builders referred me to the installers who then sent out a repair technician for a modest $100. Best money I ever spent!!
I came to find out however that they weren't much of a value when it comes to garage door openers and installs. Luckily when it came time to get the garage door opener installed I found Casey at Garageworks TN. He was a little less expensive than most but what I truly appreciated was the quality and timeliness of his work, not to mention he's just a cool dude :). He does garage repairs, garage door installs, spring repairs, installs garage door openers, etc. all over Nashville, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, and will even go up to Clarksville.
